Cylchlythyrau – 2025/26: • Pobl Ifanc a Chyllyll • Diwrnod Mabolgampau 2026 • I've been asked by our local School Community Police Officer, PC Manus Sheridan, to share the following link regarding water safety. As the nicer weather is in front of us, (hopefully!), it is essential that our children stay safe if playing near open water. Plenty of useful advice can be found here; Be Water Aware 2026 Finally, I know both myself and Mrs Williams, (Acting Headteacher at Ysgol y Foryd,) have mentioned safe parking a few time recently. Sadly, I've received yet another email from a concerned parent regarding some vehicles double parking on the yellow wavy lines, which is causing an obstruction. This creates an unsafe situation, particularly at busy times, as it restricts visibility and makes it more difficult for pedestrians, including children, to cross safely. I have sent the email on, with my full agreement, to the Local Authority. I have since had a response from the Local Authority Road Safety Officer, explaining that she has forwarded the police email to their parking services along with the email sent so they can enforce regularly and inform the police if needed. She is letting the Traffic section know that the parking is getting worse again and seeing if there is anything they can put in to help the situation. She is coming to Ysgol Maes Owen in the next few months to do an Active travel talk to try and get people walking, cycling more to reduce the vehicle usage outside the schools. If all families could ensure they adhere to safe driving and parking outside the schools, please. I've also attached a flyer regarding our Christmas Fayre on the 27th November. Please do add this to your diaries if possible as it has been added to our school diary since the last set of dates emailed home to you. If anyone is able to source any prizes via a local business or further afar for our raffle at the Christmas Fayre, this would be amazing!!! We have added another ‘ask’ to the flyer we emailed out to you yesterday!! In addition to Years 3 and 4 bringing in cake donations and Years 5 and 6 bringing in Tombola items on the day of the fayre, the PTFA would be ever so grateful of toy donations for the Tombola. These can be brought in any day that week from Monday to Thursday. If you don’t have any thing to donate, please don’t worry!! • Dyddiadau Pwysig - Hydref 2025 • We're pleased to let you know that The Family Centre will be running a 5-week "Talking to Teens" programme here at school, starting soon. This programme is designed to support parents and carers in navigating the teenage years, offering practical advice and strategies to improve communication, strengthen relationships, and better understand the challenges young people face today. Many parents who have taken part in previous sessions have found it extremely helpful, with feedback highlighting how it gave them more confidence, reduced stress at home, and helped them feel more connected to their teens. Sessions will be held weekly during school hours, and there is no cost to attend. We warmly encourage you to take part – whether you're facing challenges or simply want to learn more about supporting your child through adolescence.
